As a new arrival to costarrican lands, my first introduction to the coffee pride here was a bumper sticker: Juan Valdez drinks costarrican coffee .
Juan Valdez has been the Colombian Coffee icon for over 4 decades. Last year, Colombia held a new competition to choose a new Juan Valdez, a fictional character. Instead of choosing an actor, like the former two, they decided to host a reality show type competition, casting among real coffee growers and farmers.
